It seems nowadays, at least on consoles, playable demos are increasingly becoming few and far between. Granted, there are still playable demos on the likes of PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, but it doesn't feel quite as prominent as it was back in the day.

Yet, it seems digital storefronts on PC such as Epic Games and Steam still offer plenty of playable demos with a little something for everyone. Though Steam is also prone to loads of asset-flip shovelware, thankfully the demo featured in this article looks to be an absolute gem.

The game in question is The 7th Seal, not to be confused with the 1957 movie directed by Ingmar Bergman, The Seventh Seal. However, both the video game and movie do share a similar medieval theme, I guess. The demo is available to download now via Steam.
“The King is dead…,” reads the synopsis of The 7th Seal. “Years ago, after the passing of his beloved Heir, he bestowed six seals to the noble houses. The 7th seal is held in trust by the king's Steward. Your claim to the throne is as strong, if not more so, than that of the other nobles.
“To claim it, you must gather the six seals under one banner by any means necessary. Only then will the Steward award the 7th. The fate of the realm is at stake,” it continues. “Claim the throne... or bend the knee!”
So, exactly what kind of game is The 7th Seal? Developed by Legacy Gameworks, this gorgeous indie RPG is a: “tactical, turn-based strategy game that you enjoy on your own or with friends as you embark on an epic struggle to claim the empty throne.
