Stunning New FPS Looks Like The ‘BLACK’ Sequel We’ve Been Waiting For
One of the greatest tragedies in gaming is that BLACK never got the appreciation, or indeed the sequel, it deserved.
Released way back in 2006 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, EA and Criterion’s BLACK was a properly revolutionary first-person shooter that dared to be different. A shooter that prided itself on realism and authenticity, BLACK pushed the hardware of the time to its limits and got damn good results. Alas, it ultimately fell into obscurity. With shinier franchises like Call Of Duty and Battlefield winning people over, any plans for a sequel were scuppered.

But BLACK’s legacy lives on in an incredibly impressive new project called Untitled FPS. Okay, so the name needs work - but just look at this thing! It’s absolutely stunning.
There aren’t a lot of details on Untitled FPS yet, but there are a handful of impressive clips on YouTube showing off the game in action. It’s clear to see the influence of classic shooters like BLACK and Project F.E.A.R, from the slowing down of time to the detailed environmental destruction and gorgeous visuals.

Exactly what Untitled FPS will one day turn into remains to be seen. It looks like it’s being worked on by a small Sweden-based studio called VRESKI, though there’s no mention of the project on the company’s official website. For now, it’s looking more like a tech demo than a full game - but we’re hoping it eventually turns into something more and gives us the unofficial BLACK sequel we’ve been waiting for.
