Terrifier 2 video game is already on the horizon, says director

The sickening horror film continues to go from strength to strength.

With sickening visuals, an unforgettable villain and excellent performances from its leads, Terrifier 2 has stunned and shocked even the most steely of horror fans in the most astonishing ways. The third film is in the works, and now we know that we might be getting a video game version of Art the Clown's rampages through Miles County.

Terrifier 2 picks up twelve months after the Miles County Massacre where the details of the victims' deaths has been sensationalised in the lead up to Halloween. Jonathan Shaw becomes obsessed with Art the Clown after he sees sketches of the murderer in his late father's sketchbook while his older sister Sienna chastises him for this strange fixation. However, when Sienna has a nightmare about Art going on another spree and Jonathan sees Art in his school, the clown soon resumes his sadistic activities, picking off their family and friends until trapping them in the derelict The Terrifier attraction at the carnival.

If you've seen Terrifier 2, you'll know the gore is relentless. I've got a strong stomach, but as soon as that happened in the now notorious bedroom scene, I was simultaneously sickened and amazed. David Howard Thornton's performance as Art swings from slapstick levity to white-hot rage, and you could certainly see this character becoming as iconic as Freddy, Jason, Michael to name a few.

We recently had the chance to chat to director Damien Leone about the response to the film and to Art the Clown, and whether or not he would ever be interested in continuing Art's story in a video game.

"In a heartbeat," said Leone, who has always held video games in high regard. "We've already been approached by a company two months ago that was interested in creating a game and we said 100%." Since the first film was released, there have been a scattershot of fan concepts for Art to join the Killers of Dead by Daylight, using his bag of tricks as an arsenal of brutal weapons and honking the horn that would cause survivors to scream within a certain radius. Leone's dream game would follow that similar asymmetrical structure to strike fear into the players and play to his creation's spine-chilling savagery to his kills.

"I'd love to have it laid out like the Friday The 13th game, that would be amazing. We can either be Art the Clown or you could be the victim... who wouldn't love to go in love to be in that world for a couple hours? I mean, that's so fun. It's so terrifying," he said.

Curious? Terrifier 2 is out now on digital platforms, DVD and Blu-ray, and there's also the Terrifier 1 & 2 Blu-ray box-set available at retailers.
