We know that The Elder Scrolls 6 is on the way, we just don’t know when. Bethesda announced the game being in production, got us all excited, and then left us all wondering and speculating. Now, it seems, we might have a firmer idea of when we’ll see it out in the world.
Now that Starfield has journeyed through the galaxy, a large portion of the development team has shifted their focus over to The Elder Scrolls 6. That’s pretty much all we know with regards to production, but official documents from the Microsoft buyout place the game as possibly releasing in 2026.

Other solid details we have are the release platforms; as Microsoft now owns Bethesda we will see the anticipated sequel to Skyrim land on both Xbox and PC through Game Pass, however, it’s unlikely PlayStation players will get a chance to adventure into Tamriel unless Sony can make a handsome deal with Microsoft.

While we also don’t know where in Tamriel the game will be set, strong rumours put the game in Valenwood, the home of the Bosmer. Of course, Bethesda could revisit older areas which they’ve been known to do via The Elder Scrolls Online. Some players have been analysing the teaser trailer we got and are starting to bounce around the idea that the new game will be set in Hammerfall or High Rock, but really it’s all guesswork currently. While it would be great to go back to places like Morrowind, a whole new area would make it more exciting.
Pretty much any information can be taken with a pinch of salt, especially in a turbulent gaming industry which often sees delays and release date moves. Until we get more information we’ll have to make do with playing Skyrim for the umpteenth time, or revisiting our favourite lands in Elder Scrolls Online.
