The Elder Scrolls fans surprised with unexpected expansion update

The Elder Scrolls fans surprised with unexpected expansion update

More Elder Scrolls is a good thing

If you’re anything like us, you’re pining for more Elder Scrolls. It has been so many damn years since we got The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim that a lot of us have graduated from high school, started a family, or established a new career. There are only so many times we can wake up in Tamriel and fight some dragons. We need more.

Thankfully, Bethesda is blessing us with some new Elder Scrolls in the form of The Elder Scrolls: Castles, a mobile game in a similar ilk to Fallout Shelter, in fact, it’s made by the same team.

Skyrim is still seen as one of the best RPGs ever made and with good reason.

The Elder Scrolls: Castles lets you build a dynasty, “where every day in our world is a year in the game's world. Citizens are born, they die, rulers change, and can be betrayed.” You’ll slowly build up a castle, a kingdom, and a public who will love or hate you. It appears to be an engaging way to connect with the long-running franchise via your phone or tablet.

The game was originally soft-launched in the Philippines before branching out to Denmark, Finland, and Iceland. Now the launch has expanded into Germany on mobile app stores. As well as bringing the game to a new audience, Bethesda has also updated the game with “improved rulings, more quests, and numerous fixes and improvements.”

Hopefully, the roll-out will continue and your country will be included; the release date as noted on the App Store is currently December 2024. At least we’ll get some more Elder Scrolls this year, at least.

The Elder Scrolls: Castles will hopefully keep us going while we wait on the news for the sixth game in the franchise. Skyrim was such a huge and important game for many and we’re all desperately waiting to see what’s next for the world of Tamriel.
