Whether you want it or not, it looks like a remake of The Last of Us is coming soon. Whilst it hasn’t officially been confirmed by Naughty Dog, there are so many rumours and leaks surrounding the project that it almost feels like a given at this point.

Sources seem to suggest that the The Last of Us remake will be released this year. Personally, I’d love to see a remake. The original is an iconic piece of gaming, but a remake wouldn’t negate or change that. I’d simply love to see the first game with The Last of Us Part II’s game mechanics.

To see what else Unreal Engine 5 is capable of, take a look at The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience below.

Until Naughty Dog does announce anything, I have just the thing to tide you over. A group of creators recently got together to demonstrate what a The Last of Us remake would look like in Unreal Engine 5 and the results are truly mind-blowing.

The mock-up trailer was created by YouTuber Enfant Terrible using assets created in UE5 by fellow YouTubers Hossein Diba, Sciontidesign, and Quixel. The trailer takes us through a series of post-apocalyptics scenes that use The Last of Us’ trademark eco-urban style.

In one scene, we see Ellie hiding from a Clicker, whilst another shot shows us what Joel could look like with up-to-date graphics. The quality is so good that you could easily mistake it for footage from HBO’s upcoming The Last of Us TV show. UE5 really is proving itself to be incredible.

Many took to the video’s comments to display their amazement. User ‘las us’ wrote, “Amazing work! Naughty Dog should recruit you to develop TLOU part three,” whilst ‘TOLKI art’ said, “Oh my god, it would be a dream come true to play that eternal masterpiece with those graphics.” I’d echo that. I need it now please Naughty Dog.
