You Can Buy An Official Witcher Cookbook, Because Reasons

As much as everyone loves The Witcher, I wouldn’t have thought that anyone’s favourite part of the series is the food. That said, as I browse the Wiki page on this fine Saturday morning, a cheeky baguette with camembert or portion of herb toast sounds pretty dang delectable.

So, with that said, if you ever personally felt like gobbling down any of the dishes Geralt encounters on his adventures, have I got the book for you. As reported by PC Gamer, The Witcher Cookbook is a real, actual thing that’s coming out later this year, and features 80 different recipes inspired by the series.

“Take a culinary journey through the fantastical world of The Witcher with thoughtfully imagined, flavourful recipes inspired by The Witcher’s expansive settings, characters, and lore,” the book’s description reads. It claims to be “meticulously-researched”, with recipes which will “give fans a taste of the distinct flavours a witcher might sample as he travels the countryside in search of monsters to slay and coin to earn”.

So, what kind of recipes can you actually hope to learn from this? Well, although they’ve not gone into specifics, they’ve still given quite the list of examples: “Warm up over a bowl of fragrant stew or juicy baked fruit from the namesake trees of White Orchard; end a hard journey to Velen with a hearty, rustic meal at the local tavern; enjoy an aromatic snack as you stroll the markets of Oxenfurt; sample dishes from near and far in the diverse port city of Novigrad; dine onfreshly-caught fish and mulled drinks on the islands of Skellige; feast on rich dishes in the sun-drenched climates of Toussaint and Beauclair; or forage on the perilous road to Kaer Morhen to learn the edible secrets of the witcher’s keep.”

If you’re interested, you can preorder the book right now - it’s currently set to release on 25 October. This is admittedly probably not quite as exciting as knowing the next game in The Witcher series is on its way, but hey, it’s still pretty neat, right?
