'Thor: Love And Thunder' Had "R-Rated" Deleted Scenes With Gorr The God Butcher

'Thor: Love And Thunder' Had "R-Rated" Deleted Scenes With Gorr The God Butcher

That's one heck of a tone shift from the slapstick of the film.

In deleted scenes in Thor: Love and Thunder, Christian Bale revealed that he portrayed an "R-rated" version of Gorr the God Butcher - no, not like that. Steady on.

Speaking to Inverse, it sounded like Bale dived feet first into the darker and more sinister parts of the character's personality. “With Thor: Love and Thunder, Taika and me, we kind of knew that some of the stuff we were doing probably wouldn't end up in the film, but we wanted to just push it and see," said the actor. "Ultimately, it is and should be a film that all the family can go and enjoy. And Chris Hemsworth, a couple of times he looked at me it was like, Dude, that's a little too far. I don't think anyone's gonna want to see that unless it's an R-rated film."

While you're here, why not watch the Secret Invasion trailer and see if you can tell who's a Skrull and who's the real deal?

"But it was a great joy to give it a shot. And we had a lot of fun in there doing certain scenes and takes on certain scene choices, even if they didn't end up in the final cut,” concluded Bale. Even though those scenes have been lost, fans were intrigued. "Gorr was SOOO out of place in this film. Such a serious villain for such a goofy film made no sense. Christian Bale deserved better!!!" said one. "They wasted Gorr’s character. He could have been Thanos for Gods, like really one level up [than] Thanos... No terror, not shown as a force of nature, got slapped in very first encounter with Thor. Like WTF," added another. It's apparent that there is an appetite for a much more mature tone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, yet, it would be a large risk for Disney to take with its family-friendly history.
