It certainly looks as if Microsoft are edging ever closer to successfully acquiring Activision. If they do, they’ll have a whole new host of IPs to play with - and fans of Tony Hawk’s Underground are desperately hoping it may finally get the remake it deserves.
Developed by Neversoft, Tony Hawk’s Underground first appeared on the scene back in 2003. The game was originally released on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Game Boy Advance with a PC version released for Windows a year later in 2004. What sets Underground apart though is that while most Tony Hawk games starred professional skaters and simply tasked you with passing through various levels, Underground had an amatear skateboarder progressing through a story mode.

It’s no secret that remakes are all the rage right now. You need only look at Dead Space, The Last of Us Part I, Resident Evil 4, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater as a few examples. With this in mind, Reddit user MagicHoops3 took to the site to write, “The Tony Hawk series is the answer for the Activision series that needs to be brought back [or] remastered,” kicking off the discussion.

It awaits to be seen what Microsoft will do with Activision’s wide array of IPs, should the acquisition go through. We now know that Xbox has signed a deal with PlayStation to keep Call of Duty on the platform. PlayStation fans are worried about the future of Spyro and Crash Bandicoot though. It’s odd to think that Crash was once a PlayStation icon.
