Almost four years after closing its doors, Toys ‘R’ Us is set to return to the UK.

Founded way back in 1948, the beloved toy retailer boasted close to 100 stores across the UK. For generations of children, Toys ‘R’ Us was one of the most exciting places you could hope to find yourself. Sadly, the company fell into administration in 2018 and closed all of its UK stores after it was unable to find a buyer.

Check out one of the classic Toys 'R' Us Christmas adverts below. If you're of a certain age, you'll know how special it was when this started showing up on TV around the holiday season.

Over the last few years Toys ‘R’ Us ANZ and WHP Global have been able to revive and relaunch the franchise and its partner brand, Babies “R” Us, in Australia. Earlier this week, WHP announced it had signed a “long-term” licence agreement to sell its wares in the UK online and in brick-and-mortar stores.

“Since Toys ‘R’ Us’ return to Australia in June 2019, we have scaled quickly as customers returned to the much-loved brand and our e-commerce model has proven its success,” Dr Louis Mittoni, CEO and managing director of Toys ‘R’ Us ANZ said in a press release.

The announcement clarified that UK customers would be able to order products online at first, with physical stores coming in 2022 and 2023. Do I want to quit my job right now and apply to work at Toys ‘R’ Us? I’d be lying if the child in me wasn’t screaming out for me to do exactly that.
