What’s with all these sequels coming out a ridiculously long time after the original? Sure, it sends the internet into overdrive as we madly post on social media about our surprise, but other than that, it feels a little bit cruel. Whatever the reason for the wait, the first trailer for the Band of Brothers sequel Masters of the Air has been released.
It’s been a week for trailer drops, with GTA VI trending on social media once Rockstar finally broke its silence, and now we have this. What a gift of a week.

The series will star Austin Butler from Elvis, and Barry Keoghan from The Banshees of Inisherin, with the entire cast already thrilling returning fans, as well as those who are only tuning into the TV show because of those well-known names.

Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, the creative minds behind both Band of Brothers and Pacific, are once again diving into the raw, emotive history of war. Having successfully moved critics and audiences alike before with their adaptation of Stephen E. Ambrose's book, fans are expecting more of the same. After seeing Hanks and Butler together in Elvis, we know those two are a winning combination, which is part of the reason Butler decided to take the role.
During an interview with The Sunday Times, Butler revealed what Hanks had said to convince him the role was a good fit. “You have immersed yourself so deeply in Elvis that, for your mental health, it would be wise to go straight into something else. If you just jump off the train, you might have emotional whiplash.” Before coyly adding, “And, you know, I’ve got this thing I’m producing."
Sneaky, sneaky Tom Hanks.
When the new series comes to our screens, it’ll be via Apple TV+, with this series being the first that Apple Studios has produced, seemingly adding more pressure for success.

To get a taste of what action you’re in for, here’s a teaser from Apple TV+’s synopsis: “Based on Donald L. Miller’s book of the same name, and scripted by John Orloff, Masters of the Air follows the men of the 100th Bomb Group (the “Bloody Hundredth”) as they conduct perilous bombing raids over Nazi Germany and grapple with the frigid conditions, lack of oxygen, and sheer terror of combat conducted at 25,000 feet in the air.”
Make sure to mentally prepare yourselves for the daring feats we’ll see, and, if you haven’t already, you might want to consider a subscription in time for its 26 Jan 2024 release date. Not that it’ll be cheap, as Apple is renowned for finding ways to make its products expensive.
