Aquaman 2 allegedly rehired Amber Heard after Elon Musk threatened studio

Aquaman 2 allegedly rehired Amber Heard after Elon Musk threatened studio

Aquaman 2 is overflowing with drama

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed 2018 movie and after much delay, the sequel is finally near.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, then you will know that ex-couple Amber Heard and Johnny Depp have been entangled in a gruelling court battle.

Check out Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom trailer below!

As a result of the allegations made against Johnny Depp, Warner Bros sacked him from playing the role of Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. Depp was replaced by Mads Mikkelsen. It is also reported that Disney decided to ditch Depp from the iconic role of Jack Sparrow in an upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Yet, as with Fantastic Beasts, despite also being a Warner Bros movie property, Amber Heard kept her job in the Aquaman sequel. However, it is claimed that her role in the movie has very much since been watered down.

It seems not everyone was happy with Amber Heard keeping her role as the Queen of Atlantis, none more so than Jason Momoa, apparently. Reportedly, leaked documents from the Deep vs. Heard trial claimed that Momoa turned up on the set of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom drunk calling for the actress to be sacked.

It’s no secret that Amber Heard once dated the richest man on planet Earth, Elon Musk, who at some point had the actress cosplay as Mercy from Overwatch for reasons we can only assume.

As reported by Variety, it is claimed that the director of the Aquaman sequel, James Wan as well as Warner Bros. wanted to fire Amber Heard. The reason was her apparent “lack of chemistry with Momoa.” A letter sent to Heard’s attorney also claimed that the potential dismissal was unrelated to her court battle with Johnny Depp.

Upon hearing about the dismissal, Elon Musk allegedly sent a letter to Warner Bros threatening a “scorched Earth” and to “burn down the house”. Apparently, that letter was enough for Heard to keep her job.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom arrives in cinemas on 20 December 2023.
