The Mandalorian actress Gina Carano plans to sue Disney and LucasFilm over her firing, in a suit paid for by Elon Musk.
When The Mandalorian first released on Disney+ it was celebrated as some of the best Star Wars media we’d seen in years. Featuring new and compelling characters like the Mandalorian himself Din Djarin, Grogu (Baby Yoda) and Cara Dune, played by Gina Carono.

Carono reprised her role as Cara in Season 2 for the finale episode, but was then axed for “denigrating people based on their cultural & religious identities” in social media posts that were seen as ““abhorrent and unacceptable.”

One post implied that being a Republican in America was the same as being Jewish during during Nazi Germany, and following a huge amount of backlash from fans she was removed from the show going forward.
Recently Carano stated that she was “harassed and defamed” and will now be taking legal action against Disney and LucasFilm, claiming wrongful discharge and sexual discrimination because she believes her male co-stars had posted similar political posts online but were not held accountable. She hopes to claim $75,000 in damages as well as being reinstated into the show, which soon be starting its fourth season.
It’s said that Elon Musk will be funding the case, following a pledge to help any celebrity who faced employment discrimination. Carano said: “I am grateful someone has come to my defense in such a powerful way & look forward to clearing my name.”
In other news, Mando and Grogu will finally be heading to the big screen. Disney and LucasFilm announced the pair will star in a film, alongside the announcement that Ahsoka Season 2 is also in early development.

If Carano wins her lawsuit against the companies we could see her character return in either Season 4 or the upcoming film, whichever happens to release first.
