The Amazing Spider-Man 3: Andrew Garfield teases 'endless potential' for his Spidey

Andrew Garfield has teased the “endless potential” of his take on Peter Parker, prompting buzz for a possible The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

Spider-Man films are positively abundant right now. Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse recently released to rave reviews - and fun fact, one of the film’s most impressive scenes was animated by a 14-year-old superfan. Tom Holland’s fourth outing as Spidey is in the works, although it looks as if it’ll be a long time before it reaches our screens. It’s even been teased that Tobey Maguire could return for his own Spider-Man 4, despite the fact that Spider-Man 3 was released back in 2007. Clearly, we can thank No Way Home for the resurgence in interest in Maguire and Garfield’s webslingers. Alongside Holland, the trio have a group chat known as the Spider-Boys. Garfield could be the next to bring his Spidey back to the big screen, but it’s a big maybe.

Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to release on 12 October.

Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man films have their issues but I have to admit, I’m a major fan. I distinctly remember going to see The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in cinemas and while it was stuffed with perhaps a few too many characters, I was excited at the prospect of a third outing. Well, as spotted by The Direct, Garfield has opened up about returning as Peter Parker in the official art book for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

“It's changed his life,” Garfield began. “He's going back knowing that he has brothers. He's going back in re-inspired to follow his destiny, his calling - the purpose of his life. By catching MJ, he got to make up for a terrible tragedy that he tried to avoid in his world. [...] The story never ends, whether we film it or not. There's a story happening in a universe somewhere. There's endless potential with this character and all the different iterations. So, yeah, he's definitely out there doing something."

Garfield is clearly excited by the prospect of exploring who his version of Peter Parker is post the events of No Way Home, but it does all sound rather hypothetical at this point in time. What Garfield is saying is that there’s a story out there, we just don’t know if it’s a story that will be explored on film. There’s certainly demand to see that though.
