Invincible season 2 teasing Spider-Man crossover, fans are convinced

Invincible season 2 teasing Spider-Man crossover, fans are convinced

Invincible fans are convinced that a Spider-Man crossover is being teased for season 2.

Fans of Amazon Prime Video’s Invincible are convinced that Spider-Man will make an appearance in the upcoming second season which is due to premiere on 3 November.

If you don’t know, Invincible is an adult animated superhero show from creator Robert Kirkman, also of The Walking Dead fame. Based on the comic book series of the same name, the show centres around Mark Grayson, a teenager who sets out to become a superhero under the guidance of his father Omni-Man. Last weekend, it was confirmed at San Diego Comic Con that voice recording is underway on the third season. It’s also recently been announced that an Invincible game is in the works - a tabletop game though, not of the video game variety. Still, it sounds hugely fun but today, we’re here to dive into this Spider-Man rumour.

Take a look at the trailer for season two of Invincible below.

There’s a fair bit of evidence to support the theory that Spider-Man could make an appearance in Invincible. First of all, it wouldn’t be the first crossover. Spider-Man and Invincible both featured in a Marvel Team-Up comic, aptly titled Spider-Man Meets Invincible. If you look closely, Invincible also appears to be reading this issue on his phone in the season two trailer for the show during the scene where he’s having dinner with Allen the Alien. As captured by Culture Crave, take a look at the find below.

In the comic book, Mark/Invincible finds himself in the Marvel Comics and teams up with Spidey in order to fight Doc Ock. If this were to happen in Invincible, it would be the first time that Spider-Man has made a film/TV R-rated appearance.

Series creator Robert Kirkman has also teased that season two will utilise the concept of the multiverse which should really come as no surprise. It’s the hot superhero trope of the moment. It’s further evidence for the Spidey theory though, as is the fact that Sony has a TV deal with Amazon. Finally, we know that Josh Keaton is set to be joining the cast. It’s not known who Keaton is voicing, but he has previously voiced Spidey in The Spectacular Spider-Man and the 2017-2020 Spider-Man series. You’ve got to admit, this is a hugely convincing theory.
