Nickelodeon has been accused of sexualising Ariana Grande as a child, following disturbing new footage recorded while she was 16.

Despite the TV channel’s immense popularity, several TV shows that were broadcasted on Nickelodeon have been the subject of multiple allegations and accusations, specifically about its child stars.

Shows like iCarly, Victorious, and Sam & Cat are prime examples, with showrunner Dan Schneider directing the stars to do bizarre scenes for the show, as well as allegedly taking part in inappropriate behaviour behind the scenes.

Music superstar Ariana Grande began her career on Nickelodeon, starring as Cat Valentine in Victorious, as well as reprising her role in the spin-off show, Sam & Cat. Years after leaving those shows behind, and launching a highly successful music career, new scenes from when she was 16 have gone viral online, and they’re incredibly disturbing.

In the scenes, Grande is shown sticking her fingers towards the back of her throat, pouring water over her chest, and shoving her foot in her mouth.

Garnering thousands of views and shares, horrified viewers have slammed Nickelodeon for making the child star for “sexualising” and “infantilising” the young actress.

One furious viewer wrote: "This is absolutely disgusting. As an adult watching this right now you can tell EXACTLY what they were doing.I hope she speaks on it, people will definitely support her. But understand exactly why she doesn't given how they treat people who do."

Another said: "This always makes me nauseous, imagine 'directing' a teenager to do that stuff as a grown man."

A third added: "When she stuck her finger in her mouth... She looked physically uncomfortable, and the feet thing... Just... Wow, disgusting."

Nickelodeon has yet to address the viral clips with a comment.
