Zack Snyder releases first trailer for Rebel Moon, and it looks ridiculously good

Zack Snyder has released the first trailer for Rebel Moon, and it looks ridiculously good.

It’s what we’ve all been waiting for - the Rebel Moon trailer has finally arrived. We’re currently in the midst of Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. Geoff Keighley is on stage as we speak, delivering updates on all that is coming up in the video game world across the next few months.

As we’ve come to expect from these kinds of showcases though, they do like to surprise us with film and TV updates too. Last year’s Summer Game Fest brought us a fresh look at HBO’s The Last of Us while the latest edition of The Game Awards featured an exclusive scene from The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Well, as promised, tonight’s edition of Opening Night Live has brought us the first full trailer for Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated Rebel Moon. The sci-fi epic is inspired by both the works of Akira Kurosawa and George Lucas’ Star Wars universe - and it looks so epic.

Take a look at the full trailer for Rebel Moon below.

The film will be split into two parts on streamer Netflix - and we know that the first part is set to land on 22 December. Curious to know what Rebel Moon is about? The synopsis reads as follows: “A peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. The desperate civilians dispatch Kora, a young woman who has a mysterious past to seek out warriors from nearby planets to help them challenge the regent.”

The film stars Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Ray Fisher, Anthony Hopkins, Fra Fee, Jena Malone, Ed Skrein, and Djimon Hounsou … just to name a few. In other words, it’s jam packed with a stellar cast. Snyder both directed and wrote the project.

Snyder also announced that a game adaptation is in the works. The RPG is planned to be set after the events of both films and Snyder teased that it would include both single-player and co-op elements. Consider us intrigued.
