Twitch Re-Bans Streamer, Hours After Lifting Injunction For Bomb Threat

Twitch can be a wild and unruly place, and the site is no stranger to controversy nor disturbing content. In recent months, one streamer was threatened at gunpoint mid-stream whilst another was banned (and then unbanned) after threatening to shoot Twitch headquarters.

Amidst the chaos, there is some good to be found. Twitch streamers are currently catching Pokémon to raise money for childhood cancer but today, we return to the extreme side of Twitch.

Twitch has provided no shortage of chaotic moments. Take a look at a few below.

Streamer Sanchovies, real name Karim, was banned by Twitch on 20 April after he made a bomb threat to his internet provider live on stream in response to his problematic internet connection. Twitch doesn't officially note the reason for banning streamers but I don’t think we need Sherlock to solve this case.

Fans of the streamer campaigned for the ban to be reversed and whilst it was reversed, the ban was reintroduced several hours later.

In a statement shared to Twitter via TwitLonger, Sanchovies wrote, “I've been dealing with internet problems for as long as I can remember, and in an outburst of frustration I said something reallllllly stupid towards the end of the stream, threatening to bomb my ISP's headquarters.” He went on, “This had been something of an inside joke within my channel for years, but what I said was super irresponsible as somebody with a considerably large audience. I apologize for that. It was an awful, awful joke to make and it'll never happen again.”

Sanchovies had initially brushed off the ban, thinking it would only be for a few days. He told his followers that he realised the severity of the situation when the ban turned out to be indefinite.

“This is the first time I get banned at all on Twitch,” he began. “The past few months have been very hard for me, but I need to learn to control my emotions better and be careful with the things that I say. And I definitely have learned my lesson. I am really, really sorry,” Well, whether Twitch will decide to reverse the ban again remains to be seen.
