Twitch streaming in public is as risky as it gets. Live streaming from the comfort of your home already invites plenty of risk, as we’ve learned time and time again, but attempting to broadcast to your followers in a busy crowded area? You’ve just introduced a load more variables, and have inevitably invited disaster into your life.
Yet that’s the risk “IRL” Twitch streamers take every day. Earlier this year, we saw how one unlucky streamer was assaulted in public and is now attempting to sue his attacker. More recently, a different Twitch star was hit by a car in the middle of his broadcast.
Take a look at some of our favourite livestream wins and fails below!
Cjayride was out by himself exploring Japan and chatting with viewers when a taxi turned straight into him. Fortunately, he managed to avoid any properly serious injuries thanks to the taxi driver’s quick reflexes. After checking the taxi driver was okay, the streamer went about his business relatively unscathed, but understandably shocked. He remarked that if things had gone much worse, he “would’ve landed on the hood of his car", and this story would have had a much more tragic conclusion.
Take a look at the whole incident for yourself below.
The lesson here? Maybe don’t walk around staring at your phone in busy areas - especially when you’re anywhere near a busy road.
