'Uncharted 5' Has Not Been Ruled Out, Says Naughty Dog

Uncharted: Legacy Of Thieves Collection comes out tomorrow (January 28) and features both Uncharted games from the PlayStation 4 wrapped up in one delicious snack.

In our review, Ewan Moore praised the double pack for being "more gorgeous than ever before, two excellent stories, gripping action set pieces and explosive action throughout".

Porting the two games to the latest generation of PlayStation console wasn't easy. The newest feature on Sony's controller, haptic feedback gave the development team some strife. In an interview with GamesRadar+, Kurt Margenau and Shaun Escayg, both of whom held senior directorial positions on the PlayStation 4 Uncharted games, revealed the difficulty of integrating the haptics.

"When you get shot, you can feel it only on the side of the controller where you got shot. It's a subtle effect, but it's something you couldn't do on the old controller because you had asymmetrical motors, you had a big motor and a small motor. Whenever those things rotate, the entire controller feels like it's vibrating, which is kind of by design of the hardware. But on PS5, you have the same motors on both sides, vibrating somewhat like speakers. So you can actually do very specific effects of kind of stereo panning and things." said Margenau

More interesting though than their struggles against the progression of technology was their vague answers with regards to there being yet another entry in the beloved series. While many thought the fourth was likely the end to Drake's story, with the new film coming out it seems unlikely that Naughty Dog will lay the franchise to rest.

On the topic of another sequel Escayg said "I think we can say for certain that we can never say never. Yeah. Uncharted is a franchise we love – that the studio loves. I love, and Kurt loves. It's a world we want to see more of. So I can certainly say that."

People would definitely welcome Uncharted 5, we can certainly say that.
