'Uncharted' Film Director Wants To Recreate The Car Chase From 'Uncharted 4'

'Uncharted' Film Director Wants To Recreate The Car Chase From 'Uncharted 4'

In an conversation between Neil Druckmann and Ruben Fleischer, the latter says he wants to make a sequel with the car chase from Uncharted 4

It hasn't been long since the Uncharted film released in cinemas and it hasn't had the best reception from critics. One of the most scathing reviews said "Abandon hope all ye who enter here. There truly is no future for the video-game-to-movie adaptation if Hollywood can’t even crack Uncharted." However, poor reviews haven't worked to dampen box office sales, as the figures are doing quite nicely.

So it seems much like Sonic The Hedgehog, a sequel could be in the works. Now, in a recent video released by Sony, director Ruben Fleischer talks about which scene from the games he would most like to recreate if he gets the chance. The current movie tries to recreate the set piece from the beginning of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, where protagonist Nathan Drake goes flying out the back of a cargo plane. The game's interactive medium makes the sequence incredibly tense which is a feeling difficult for the film to visually master.

Those looking forward to seeing the Uncharted film can check out the final trailer in the video below.

Fleischer said if he were given a second chance he would love to recreate the car chase from Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. "I want to recreate from the games, and if we're lucky enough to get to make another one of these, the car chase. I think the greatest car chase ever filmed, in any movie or anything, was in which Uncharted?" Drake's actor Tom Holland then answers "Uncharted 4, when you're crashing through all people's houses."

Fleischer went on to describe what he likes about the scene. "You're jumping from car to car. Like I've done plenty of car chases in my career and that car chase is unparalleled." Director of Uncharted 4, Neil Druckmann, was then able to give some insight into the sequence.

"I remember that car chase we kept one upping ourselves. Like okay, what if we add like a moment where you jump and now you start driving the Jeep next to it. And then what if like Sam the brother shows up and like now you jump on a motorcycle, and you're being chased by - and we just kept going more and more 'cause we knew that might be our last bite of the apple with Uncharted 4, so this has to be the best set piece we've ever made."

To all of this Fleischer then confirms. "Yeah. I'm gunning for that one."
