Unreal Engine 5 horror inspired by Silent Hill looks absolutely terrifying

If you love the survival horror genre, in particular Silent Hill, then this terrifying Unreal Engine 5 game could be your cup of tea.

Ever since Konami’s Silent Hill series first launched for the original PlayStation in 1999, it not only provided an alternative to Capcom’s Resident Evil franchise, but it also offered a psychological horror that would separate itself from its competitors.

Over the years, many games have tried to replicate the Silent Hill formula (well at least for the original trilogy and P.T), but few have achieved anywhere near the same level of quality and success. However, one upcoming game that looks like it could nail that classic Silent Hill vibe is Post Trauma from indie developer Red Soul Games.

“Post Trauma is a horror game inspired by genre-defining classics of the past decades. Step into the shoes of Roman, a middle-aged train conductor who finds himself trapped in a terrifying and twisted reality,” reads the official description of the game. “Explore the unknown, solve mysteries, and try to survive the unspeakable horrors that lurk in these threatening surroundings. Will you uncover the truth and find a way back to your family?”

It can often be difficult to tell if a game will truly be any good, no matter how impressive a trailer might be. In saying that, Post Trauma certainly looks like my cup of tea and is one that I’ll be keeping an eye on.

Post Trauma promises a nightmarish world inhabited by deadly creatures, well thought-out puzzles and an unravelling mystery in a mind-bending dimension that will keep you engaged from start to finish. For that authentic survival horror experience, Post Trauma will also feature fixed camera angles which will surely please many old-school fans. Will Roman be able to survive this horror with his mentality intact? Only time will tell.

No release date has been announced for Post Trauma at the time of writing, but it is expected to be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S during the spring of 2024.
