'Until Dawn' Is Being Remade For PlayStation 5, Says Insider

'Until Dawn' Is Being Remade For PlayStation 5, Says Insider

According to a prominent leaker, Supermassive Games have been working on the remake for a while now.

Who’s ready for more potential remakes circulating around the rumour mill? I sure hope you are, because that’s what you’re getting. Apparently, we could be seeing a new, revamped version of Supermassive Games’ hit horror title, Until Dawn, soon.

This news comes from prominent leaker AccNgt, who posted the claims on Twitter. According to them, it’s been in development for a while now: “From what I've heard from several separate sources, in addition to their new games, Supermassive Games is reportedly working on a remake of Until Dawn for some time that will be coming to current-gen consoles,” they wrote. “I will try to find out more about this potential project”

Horror games definitely aren't for everyone, including this poor woman who definitely didn't have a good time with this spooky VR game - check it out below.

AccNgt has been known to get leaks like these spot-on in the past - they previously posted the logo for Star Wars Eclipse a full week before it was officially announced at The Game Awards last year. They added that this information about Until Dawn isn’t new to them - they’ve been trying to verify if it’s true: “I have [had] this information since December, I have been careful as always to check if it is true or not. I'm not doing this for clout.”

Although Supermassive Games isn’t a first-party studio, and has had games released over multiple platforms, chances are that a remake of Until Dawn would be made exclusively for the PS5, since Sony themselves own the rights to it.

If this is true, though, it certainly raises the question of how old a game should be before it’s even remotely considered worthy of a remake. Similarly, rumours of a remake of The Last of Us have been circulating for some time now, and fans have, in general, been in agreement that a 2013 game, which has already been remastered once and still holds up very well, really isn’t in great need of a full remake. Having released in 2015, Until Dawn is newer still, so it’s even more questionable.

It goes without saying that as of now, of course, all of this is unofficial, so take it with a pinch of salt. Either way, it’s potentially exciting news for the masses of players undoubtedly waiting for a shiny new version of a game that’s not even seven years old yet.
