There's a new taxi game coming out. No, it's not Crazy Taxi, although SEGA is working on a new version of the arcade and Dreamcast classic. This upcoming 2024 release is going to be more of a simulator.
Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator seems like a very sedate experience; one where players can control various aspects of their vehicle while ferrying passengers from A to B in the beautiful city of Barcelona. From what we’ve seen via trailers, it looks like it’ll be the next big simulator and maybe even lend itself to some roleplay.

While we all wait for Crazy Taxi, we can take passengers to their destination in this gorgeous simulator. Barcelona looks absolutely stunning and the cars don’t look so bad either. “After arriving in Barcelona with nothing but a car and a dream, drive around the busy streets of the famous city and transport passengers while offering them impeccable service. You will need to follow the rules of the road; deal with impatient tourists, changing weather, and rush hours.”

Sounds like this will check a lot of boxes for lovers of simulators. What I love the most is the idea of driving through one of Europe’s most gorgeous cities. Barcelona has been recreated on a 1:1 scale taking us across 286 miles of roads. I don’t even care about picking up fares, I’ll just be happy to drive around earning points for unlocking points of interest.
Hopefully, there’s an option to buy lots of different cars to offer a rounded experience, as the Steam page mentions that experience points can be used for upgrades and unlocking longer fares. Though I’m not looking forward to grumpy customers but hey, we take the rough with the smooth. We’ll find out much more when the game is released 7 March 2024.
