Star Streamer Valkyrae Says Fans Who Sexualize Her Online Are "Creepy"

A workout stream seems out of the question

It’s no surprise to anyone that there are creeps on the internet. With anonymity comes risks, especially for those who put content on the internet looking to create a following. Although the majority of your audience is going to want the best for you and your life, there are those that will obsess over you, form unhealthy parasocial relationships, and in some cases even stalk the creator. And when you’re one of the biggest influencers on the planet, like Valkyrae, you’re also going to be constantly sexualised no matter what you do.

In a recent livestream spotted by Ginx, Valkyrae spoke about her experience doing exercise on-stream, and how there was a flood of creeps speaking about her sexually following it. The creator says that she was wearing a onesie while exercising - a pretty loose piece of clothing - but it didn’t matter because people were determined to still be gross about her appearance.

Here are some of our favourite livestream wins and fails...

Valkyrae, real name Rachell Hofstetter, says: “I was in a full-blown onesie, and I did a charity stream two years and ago. And I threw out my back a little bit - just a little bit. But oh my gosh I couldn’t believe. It didn’t even matter I was in a onesie at all, it just didn’t matter. It simply didn’t matter.”

Although she said the original comment sounding mildly shocked that people would take it that far with her wearing a onesie, she does go on to say it’s just how the internet is, sadly. “I mean it is what it is. It’s just what happens when you’re on the internet, you know?” It's a shame that a creator will feel limited by the way people will over-sexualise them on the internet like this. If they want to do a workout stream, they should be able to without it becoming a fixation of certain "really creepy" people.
