Vin Diesel Announces He's Starring In A Video Game Movie

2 ARK 2 Survival Evolved.

Ahh the video game movie. A very unique and difficult little sub-genre that has offered up some of the best, and worst, movies of all time. If you’re asking this editor (and you have no choice because I’m writing this article) to name a good one, I’m saying Silent Hill all day. Detective Pikachu was also not bad and Sonic 1 & 2 passed the vibe check. Just about. If you’re asking me to name a bad one, I’m going to gesture broadly at literally everything else.

What better way for Hollywood mega-star Vin Diesel to come wading into the quagmire then, by announcing that he will be starring in a video game movie all of his own, and it’s one based around one of the most successful multiplayer games ever made - ARK: Survival Evolved.

The astute among you will know that Diesel is already going to be starring in the sequel to ARK the video game, called ARK 2, with the trailer showing him literally riding a dinosaur. Check it out below.

Taking to Instagram to reveal his new venture, Diesel described ARK: Survival Evolved as the “best game out right now” and said how his son introduced him to the title before stating that “any real gamer is excited about ARK 2.!!!” He’s definitely not biased in any way, as you can tell.

There’s already ARK: The Animated Series which is set to drop later this year starring such A-list heavy hitters as David Tennant, Michelle Yeoh, Gerard Butler, Elliot Page and Russel Crowe, but there’s nothing to suggest that will tie in to the movie in any way.

There’s no release date for the movie just yet and there’s no real way of telling how long it’s been in the works, so putting a rough time frame on it is very difficult. What we do know, is that ARK 2 will be coming some time in 2023. It’s entirely possible that if the cogs of the movie have been turning away behind the scenes for a while, we could see the two coincide their releases for maximum ARK hype
