'Call Of Duty: Warzone' Sequel Promises Major Shakeup To Align With Future Of Series

'Call Of Duty: Warzone' Sequel Promises Major Shakeup To Align With Future Of Series

This is going to be a "massive evolution" on the experience of the battle royale.

As per Activision's announcement on the future of its incredibly popular first-person shooter series, Call Of Duty: Warzone is metamorphosing into something entirely new to tie into the next core Call Of Duty title like a beautiful butterfly.

Warzone Pacific Season Two arrives on Valentine's Day which I'm sure is not going to trigger any tiffs between couples at all. Not at all. The new Nebula V gas is a nasty toxin that incurs damage over time to anyone caught in its cloud as well as obscured vision. Players are able to inflict this on their opponents with the Nebula V ammo and the rare Nebula V bomb that looks like an innocuous suitcase until placed on the ground. The explosion will emit Nebula V gas for several minutes so it's an ideal item to use to prevent players from closing in on your position and offers you some time to re-strategise. Be aware that the Portable Decontamination Station allows players to be immune to the gas and this will be valuable when navigating the new Chemical Factory near the Mines and the Docks.

Amongst these announcements of the content of Season Two is the reveal that there is a "new Warzone experience" on the cards. This will be developed in synchronicity with Call Of Duty 2022 which is confirmed to be a continuation of the Modern Warfare reboot released in 2019. A new engine will power these new titles as well as the "massive evolution of Battle Royale with all-new playspace and a new sandbox mode." Last but not least, Infinity Ward is taking the reins on both the new Warzone and the next Call Of Duty title.

This is appropriately nebulous from Activision though we are able to speculate on what Warzone 2 is going to look like. Verdansk changed to celebrate the release of Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War and Pacific came to tie into the historical setting of Call Of Duty Vanguard. As such, we might expect a Warzone that takes us into the rainforests of Colombia to fight the cartels, as the rumours say that the campaign of the next game is heavily inspired by Netflix's Narcos.
