Some Weirdo Was Streaming 'Morbius' On Twitch For Thousands Of Viewers

Morbius was a thing that happened, huh. Despite starring Oscar-award winning actor Jared Leto in the titular role, Marvel’s Morbius was a certified flop, earning a lowly 17 percent on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. That puts it firmly amongst the worst superhero movies of all time.

There was a lot wrong with Morbius. From the complete lack of structure to the messy script, the film felt severely underdeveloped. One minute you’d be laughing at the absurdity of it all, only to be scratching your head in an attempt to comprehend what was happening five minutes later. You know things are bad when a bunch of people genuinely assumed “It’s Morbin time” was a real line.

All that being said, you’d think no one else would want to waste their time on Morbius, yet thousands of viewers recently flocked to a live-streaming of the film on Twitch. User Morbius247 has been streaming the film 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - hence the username. Why? That we may never know.

The channel has now been shut down by Twitch for violating the website’s terms of service, but as reported by comicbook.com, the broadcast reportedly had 10,000 views and the channel almost 2,000 followers.

The channel’s bio read: “Morbius related channel. Morbius mixes, news, big plays, tilts. Everything that is somewhat related to Morbius." I can only imagine that people were watching the broadcast for the memes, because they’d find little in the way of substance.

It’s been thrown around that it could have been a publicity stunt by Sony ahead of the film’s physical release. Maybe Jared Leto set up the channel so the masses could enjoy his latest performance. The scariest thought of all? Maybe somewhere out there, Morbius does actually have a fan. Sends a shudder right through me, that.
