After leaving CD Projekt in May of last year, former vice president, Konrad Tomaskiewicz, has started developing a new game under his own studio Rebel Wolves. Tomaskiewicz was director on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and design director on Cyberpunk 2077, he will be taking a number of former CD Projekt staff with him into the new studio.
Tomazkiewicz left CD Projekt last year after being accused of bullying in the workplace. Despite being found not guilty, Tomaskiewicz said he didn't want people "feeling fear, stress, or discomfort" by working with him and he would resign due to "all the bad blood." Despite this, a number of former employees have followed him to the new studio including design director, Daniel Sadowski, animation director Tamara Zawada and art director Bartłomiej Gaweł.
To take a sneak peek at some of Tomaskiewicz' previous work check out this quest from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
In an interview with GI.biz Tomazkiewicz revealed a little of what Rebel Wolves is working on. So far only one concept image has been shared from what he is calling a "narrative focused" RPG.
"We want to recreate the feeling of a pen and paper RPG session, where your options seem limitless, where the world reacts to your choices, where every decision matters."
Currently there are only 12 people hired at Rebel Wolves but it is hoping to expand to around 80. Tomaskiewicz also claims he wants to make veteran developers from diverse backgrounds the targets for hiring.
"We can't compete with the top dogs when it comes to size or recognition, but we can provide something just as alluring: an environment where developers can think big, follow their dreams and feel ownership over their work. As we hire more developers, we want to make sure that we create a diverse company, with many different voices and perspectives."
