Xbox And Sony Team Up For Special New Freebie

Xbox And Sony Team Up For Special New Freebie

Crunchy

The unthinkable has happened. Sony (of PlayStation fame) has teamed up with Xbox (of Xbox fame) to offer a special freebie for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

As I'm sure you know because you're a super cool and completely up-to-the-minute individual, Xbox Game Pass is split into two tiers. Your standard Xbox Game Pass is £7.99 a month. The shiner Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is £10.99 a month, and grants you access to things like cloud gaming, EA Play, and other fun little extras.

In a weird twist of fate, a Sony-owned service has now made its way into Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Subscribers to this higher tier can now get a free 75-day subscription to the popular anime streaming service Crunchyroll. If you're interested, you have until February 28, 2022 to make use of the promotion.

For those that aren't aware, Sony actually purchased Crunchyroll for for just over $1 billion earlier this year amid rumours that the company is looking to make a PlayStation Plus subscription a little sweeter with new incentives.

But while Crunchyroll has yet to be added to PlayStation Plus in any way, the service has somehow become yet another solid reason to get Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. And believe me when I say Xbox Game Pass Ultimate wasn't exactly hurting for reasons to subscribe before Crunchyroll got added to it.

While it's hardly as if Sony just went and added The Last Of Us to Xbox, it's still weird to see what is now a Sony-owned service on a Microsoft console. Then again, any money Crunchyroll happens to make via Xbox is effectively money in Sony's pocket, right? Right.
