Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Subscribers Just Got An Awesome Bonus

Let’s face it, Xbox Game Pass is an amazing deal. When it comes to gaming subscription services (of which there are now many) it’s generally accepted by pretty much everyone that Microsoft know how to do it best - it’s practically a monthly occurrence at this point that their lineup of free games puts PlayStation Plus’ to shame. Sorry, Sony.

Well, just to sweeten the deal even more, this month, those paying for the Ultimate tier of Game Pass in the US are set to get a really great extra thrown in. As reported by The Verge, on 23 March, they’ll be able to grab a free 30-day trial for Paramount+, which is perfect for watching the brand new Halo TV series.

Halo (2022) will be premiering exclusively on Paramount’s streaming service on 24 March, and will apparently follow a different story to the one we already know and love. The first season will consist of nine episodes, which will release weekly. Also, yeah, that means that if you cash in the free trial as soon as it becomes available on the 23rd, you’ll later need to buy a subscription to finish watching all the episodes - it’s not known at the moment if you can save the trial to renew later, when all of them have become available.

Fans have had very mixed opinions on what we’ve seen so far in the trailers - from the fact that we’re set to get an actual face reveal for Master Chief, to Cortana not exactly being her usual blue self, there’s been complaints about a lot of things. Despite that though, it’s already been confirmed that the series will be getting a second season, so the team behind it are clearly confident that it’ll be successful. 

“Halo takes us into a dazzling world that we believe will enthral audiences as much with its electrifying visuals as its bold, character-driven storytelling,” David Nevins, Paramount Plus’ chief content officer said last month. “This second-season pickup reflects the confidence we have in the power of this epic series to attract and engage viewers. Halo has been a great collaboration with Amblin and 343 Industries, and we are all grateful for the opportunity to continue it.”

Either way, it’s only a few days to go before the first season graces our screens, and if you’re already an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriber, there’s no reason not to give it a go. Again, this offer only seems to be for people living in the US, though - the rest of us are out of luck.
