Reach for the 6.2 million stars.

If Master Chief were real (sorry kids, he's not) he'd be inclined to remove his legendary Spartan helmet if only to gasp in shock and awe at the news that Halo: Reach will be launching with 6.2 million multiplayer maps when it releases for Xbox One and PC on December 3rd.

The news comes from Microsoft themselves (via GameSpot) who explained all in a blog post:

"A really cool feature that will be available Day 1 includes the roughly 6.2 million maps and modes from legacy file shares on Halo 3, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4."

As explained, the maps will include a bunch of user-created 'legacy' maps that are being brought over in support of the game coming to PC, and joining The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One. The blog post denotes that the files will be accessible to all through the file-finder on Xbox, while PC players will only be able to access the maps through Halo: Reach, as the MCC games will be launching one by one.

Although Reach will be launching with this treasure trove of content on PC, players will have to wait just a little while until they're able to create new maps of their own. The Forge map creator won't be available until 2020, nor the Theatre mode where players can watch back previous games. That won't be coming until a later date next year.

Xbox players will have access to both of these modes on December 13th, and will likely be calling up their PC-playing pals to poke fun at them. Who can blame them.

The blog post also details a bevy of quality of life improvements, like mouse input quality and push-to-talk communications. But to be honest, if you're interested in all that, I encourage you to again follow the link here and check it out.
