Microsoft Announce New Xbox Wireless Headphones

Microsoft has announced a pair of new gaming headphones specifically designed for its Xbox gaming experience. Following the release of the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S, the tech giant has now revealed a pair of wireless headphones that can be purchased to compliment gamers' Xbox experience.

Simply named the Xbox Wireless Headset, these headphones promise high-quality audio from Dolby Atmos, DTS, and/or Windows Sonic as well as a built-in microphone with 'auto-mute' and voice isolation technology. In terms of battery length, the Xbox Wireless Headphones would last up to 15 hours on its battery but a 30-minute charge up will allow you to play for another four hours. From 0 to 100% power, it'll take around three hours.

The design, according to Microsoft, is supposed to be flexible, and lightweight with an adjustable headband which means you can wear them for long play sessions. Perhaps the feature I can imagine being the most useful in a common situation would be the volume control. The earcup of the headset rotates to control the volume you're listening at which makes for a really quick and easy adjustment if you're in the middle of a fight.

The headset is going to be available to purchase from March 16, 2021, and will cost quite the hefty amount of £95 /$100. Although it's quite a lot of money, if they're as good as Microsoft say they are, they may be well worth the price tag. For comparison, Sony's headset for the PlayStation 5, the Pulse 3D, costs £90 pounds which is just a little cheaper.

Without the Xbox Wireless Headset being available yet, there is no way to compare the quality of either option yet. That being said, it's unlikely that you're ever going to pick one console over the other because of a headset so it's all about if you're into staying within the brand or buying from a third-party hardware company.
