Here's a friendly little Public Service Announcement for all you Jacks and Jills. Modern Warfare 2 Remastered finally launches for Xbox One and PC tomorrow (April 30th). The surprise remaster, which slaps a fresh coat of paint over the entire single-player campaign of the 2009 classic, launched on PlayStation 4 at the end of last month.

The bad news was that it was a timed exclusive, and that Xbox One and PC gamers would have to wait a full month before they could relive the action-packed story for themselves. The good news is that month is finally up... although it feels an awful lot more like it's been a decade with the way things have been going lately.

Still, the game is available to pre-load now and will set you back roughly £20. Not a bad price for the full campaign, but please remember that the original game's highly regarded multiplayer isn't included in this package. According to Activision, this was to avoid splitting up the Modern Warfare and Warzone playerbase.

"Beginning with Modern Warfare last year, the focus has been to bring players together seamlessly in one unified online multiplayer playground," the publisher wrote in a blog post.

"With cross-play, releasing new post-launch maps, modes, weapons and more content drops for free, and launching Warzone, the Free-to-Play, Free-for-Everyone new Call of Duty experience, the Modern Warfare universe will expand, bringing new experiences to players."

However, other sources have since suggested the developers behind the remaster were concerned they'd changed too much about the multiplayer and that the fans wouldn't enjoy it. Whatever the case, there's no multiplayer. It's a shame, yes, but the campaign is memorable enough to be a good time on its own.

Given you're looking at a pretty chunky 45GB install for Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, I'd advise downloading it as soon as you're able so that you can play it once it's live without any delay. On that same note, if you haven't already downloaded the massive new update for Modern Warfare and Warzone, get on that. It's live now, and is mandatory... meaning you can't play with your mates tonight until you've installed it.

Multiplayer or no multiplayer, the remastered Modern Warfare 2 campaign seemed to be a big hit with PS4 users last month. Longtime fans of the series relished diving back into one of the series' most shocking and action-packed stories, while new players finally understood why so many of us consider the name Shepherd to be a particularly nasty insult.
