Xbox Supports PlayStation Game Pass Rumours, Because Consoles Wars Are Dumb

It’s fair to say that although PlayStation Plus does have some bangers, compared to Xbox Game Pass, it’s still mostly been missing the mark. As Game Pass users have repeatedly stayed winning (I mean, they have Mass Effect Legendary Edition this month, come on now), recent months have seen PS Plus subscribers disappointed with the selection of monthly games, with many calling for a change to the service to increase its value for money.
Last December, it was revealed by Bloomberg that Sony are, apparently, planning on a big overhaul. Reportedly, they intend to merge PS Plus and PS Now into one service, which is currently codenamed “Spartacus”, as well as add some classic PlayStation and PlayStation 2 titles. Basically, it’ll be PlayStation Game Pass. Scandalous!

Well, not really. News spreads fast, and unsurprisingly, the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has heard these rumours too. But, because not everyone is out to defend their console of choice to their final, dying breath, he thinks it sounds like a great idea, actually.
"I think the right answer is allowing your customers to play the games they wanna play, where they wanna play them and giving them choice about how they build their library,” he said in an interview with IGN. "When I hear others doing things like Game Pass or coming to PC, it makes sense to me because I think that's the right answer.”
Spencer went on to say that he doesn’t see Sony following in Xbox’s footsteps as any sort of validation that he and his team were “right”, as that’s just the way things go in the games industry: “I don't really look at it as validation. I actually, when I'm talking to our teams, I talk about it as an inevitability. So for us, we should continue to innovate, continue to compete, because the things that we're doing might be advantages that we have in the market today, but they're just based on us going first, not that we've created something that no one else can go create.”
So there you have it, just in case you needed any more proof that console wars are dead and you can all stop fighting in them. No, seriously, please stop. It’s not 2010 anymore, we can all move on. Just enjoy your video games, or something.
