So we all know the new Xbox Series X is going to be a large lad in comparison to our current consoles - so too the PlayStation 5, based on what we've seen of that (another absolute unit, no doubt). But just how big will the Series X be, placed beside the systems sitting under our TVs right now?
Well, here's a video showing a mocked-up Xbox Series X placed next to a series of other consoles, to provide an idea of how much space you'll need to free up at home in order to slide Microsoft's new toy into your life, when it launches later in 2020.

As you can see, the Series X's fridge-like dimensions - it's a big ol' rectangle, basically, measuring 151mm by 151mm, by 301mm (that's about the length of an old, school-days 'shatterproof' ruler) - make it tower over the likes of the GameCube, Switch and, um, the miniscule NES Classic. But in terms of height alone, it's not overshadowing a PlayStation placed vertically. And as I'm someone who does have their PS4 in an upright position, that makes me think: maybe, just maybe, I don't need to buy a load of new furniture.
It's also about the same height as an Xbox One S, if the current-gen console is placed upright. But only a psychopath would have their Xbox in such a position. Honestly. You'd have to be just the worst kind of monster. I mean, you can play the thing, that way - but, what does it say about you, really? It says: I am pain, I am suffering. I am the destroyer of worlds. Or, maybe: I've not got room to rest the thing horizontally. Maybe.
But as I said, just up there, those other consoles are a darn sight slimmer than the Xbox Series X, which I'm fairly certain could sub in for the monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey and those apes around it would still be, like, this is a chonky lad, indeed. It even makes the OG Xbox look rather underwhelming - and that console can sink entire flotillas if you chucked it at them, hard enough.
