This SpongeBob SquarePants themed Xbox Series X is so cursed. Or is it blessed? Blursed?
The creation was spawned to celebrate the launch of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, a Smash Bros. style fighting game that sees Nigel Thornberry duke it out with CatDog, which came out earlier this month. While it might look like it's trying to catch the coattails of the other series, Nickelodeon Super Brawl started with the holiday-themed browser game Jingle Brawl more than a decade ago.
In fact, the game has caught the eye of Smash players who are, expectedly, totally squashing the competition thanks to the balance issues that are always present at the start of a new online game. There are some advantages that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has over its inspiration, actually, like rollback netcode that predicts a player's move if their connection is patchy.

So, the game might be impressing its players, but these Xbox Series X consoles are certainly questionable at the least. "The Leonardo-inspired console features the visage of the iconic hero alongside his favorite food: pizza!" read the announcement from Xbox Wire. See, I know that whoever wrote this was in the midst of a fever dream. No one says "visage" in this day and age. No one.
As well as the one that plasters Leonardo's grimace front and centre on the blocky console, there's a SpongeBob one that's "inspired by the playfulness of the world's most lovable sponge." Cleanfluencers are shaking right now, shielding the hollow eyes of their Scrub Daddy from this libel.

To be honest, the SpongeBob theme does work with the chunkiness of the Xbox Series X. The controller also uses one of the sticks as his eyeball and the "A" button as his pupil, for an injection of body horror for your Tuesday afternoon.
The two are up for grabs as part of a sweepstakes which is open til October 24th for those who are 18 years old and above and live in any Xbox Live supported region. Best of luck to those who enter.
