In this world, there are many slightly less than scrupulous individuals out there who seem ready to jump at any opportunity to make gains from unsuspecting people. Whether that’s the perfectly legal (but still morally corrupt) scalpers who couldn’t care less that they’re preventing families from getting their hands on some new tech, or full-blown scammers, you really have to stay on your toes to make sure you don’t fall victim yourself to any of these things.
That’s not just online, mind you - phone scammers have existed for decades now, and while it might be obvious sometimes that, no, you aren’t entitled to £3 million of some random person’s inheritance, they do still catch people out sometimes, and can make them lose massive amounts of money. However, one YouTuber has basically made it his mission to put a stop to this, and recently executed the perfect plot for revenge on a huge scam company - the outcome is incredible.

As reported by Dexerto, engineer Mark Rober (who you might know from his cool science videos, as well as glitter-bombing porch pirates) released a video yesterday showing the result of over a year’s effort to track down the headquarters of a scam business in India. Well, to be exact, there were four buildings - Rober’s team (which included two other big YouTube channels - Jim Browning of Tech Support Scams, and Trilogy Media) managed to identify and locate the call centres, and then put their plan into action.

After flying to Kolkata, India, and working with some citizens to infiltrate one of the offices, the team planted hand-staining soap in the bathrooms, fart spray, and a fake box of Viagra addressed to the company’s boss, just for good measure. The best part is that the entire thing was recorded on CCTV (thanks to Browning) - you can check it out in the video below.
On top of being hilarious, the plan was actually really successful - it ended up shutting down every scam office in Kolkata for multiple days, and also assisted the Indian law enforcement in their efforts to raid and shut down a building. Hopefully that’ll mean that a few less scam calls are being made from now on.
