For the 25th anniversary of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, one incredibly talented artist has put together an homage to the game, creating an animated short that mixes Hyrule with Studio Ghibli. And it's stunning.
RwanLink, a 3D artist and filmmaker has created this short film to celebrate one of gaming's most popular titles. Zelda: Ocarina of Time is renowned for being one of the best RPG adventures ever made, so it deserved a great celebration. The short film, which can be found on YouTube, is better than anything Nintendo could have produced.

As a tribute to the game, RwanLink spent over 600 hours, spanning four months, to create the film. It's a beautiful combination of Ghibli influence and everything we love about Zelda, Link and Hyrule. Created in Unreal Engine 5, it shows what the engine is capable of, particularly when it comes to animation, rather than hyper realistic 3D models.

The footage, which lasts over 18 minutes and shows a variety of views, angles and characters, is narrated by the creator who talks about how he made the film. For Zelda fans, and fans of animation, this really is a wonderful thing to watch. It shows the cosy side of Hyrule, the atmosphere that Nintendo so often creates and combines it all with Ghibli visuals that seem the perfect fit.
It's no surprise that the YouTube comments are positively glowing, talking about how "magical" the film is and how they "can't believe this is fan-made." The wonder and magic that seems to fill every frame cannot be denied.
RwanLink mentions in the video that they "would love to hear your thoughts on the project and whether you'd be interested in seeing more videos in this particular art style." I think I speak for everyone when I say 'yes, we would love that.'
