'Zelda: Ocarina Of Time' Remake Includes Incredible Co-Op Mode

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is pretty much universally considered to be one of the greatest video games of all time (if not the very best, depending on who you’re talking to). The 1998 release was one of the defining titles of the N64, and there’s good reason why so many years on, fans still look back at it so fondly. Navi aside, that is.

In case you forgot, this Zelda classic did already receive the remake treatment over a full decade ago (writing that just aged me exponentially) with Ocarina of Time 3D on, you guessed it, the Nintendo 3DS. There’s no doubt that this version added loads of great improvements, including being able to equip more items, and the addition of a “Boss Challenge” mode. However, it’s certainly not the gorgeous, shiny looking release that would come to most gamers’ minds when you say ‘remake’. But luckily, as always, the fans are here to fix that, and one talented indie dev has been making the remake of our dreams in Unreal Engine 4.

Take a look at the remake in action below.

Feel like you’re having déjà vu? Don’t worry - we did previously write about this one last month. But, dear reader, there’s been a very exciting development which changes everything. Well, maybe not everything, but it’s still (quite literally) a game changer. As reported by DSOGaming, CryZENx’s stunning work-in-progress project now features fully functional co-op multiplayer. At the moment, you can only play in this mode from Kokiri Forest until you beat Gohma, but it appears to work really well - check it out in the video below.

If you want to try the game out for yourself, you can download it straight from CryZENx’s Discord server (find the link here). Again, just keep in mind that it’s not actually complete yet, but it’s coming along really nicely, and as DSOGaming points out, this is the first time we’ve ever been able to play Ocarina of Time in co-op, even counting the unofficial PC ports that have come before, so it’s a pretty big deal. We’ll have to stay tuned for more updates.
