The Stealth Pro is the latest premium headset from gaming accessory experts, Turtle Beach and it could be its best yet.
The Turtle Beach Stealth Pro is available for Xbox and PlayStation with both being compatible with PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. Coming in with an RRP of £279.99 at launch, this premium headset certainly doesn't come cheap.
One of the main features of the Stealth Pro is its implementation of noise-cancelling technology, which helps to reduce those outside ambient sounds, especially handy when you have a hyperactive child upstairs in the heat of an epic Fortnite battle. What’s more, the Stealth Pro allows you to control the level of noise-cancelling down to 25dB for added clarity.
Additionally, the noise-cancelling technology also extends to the 50mm Nanoclear drivers that power the S.M.A.R.T. (Sonic Measurement Audio Reduction Tuning) TruSpeak detachable boom mic and even the built-in microphone adding an extensive level of clarity perhaps not found in lower-budget headsets. Having this technology extending to the built-in mic can be ideal if you wanted to use the headset out and about.

While I don’t have the technology to prove this first-hand, so I’ll just have to take Turtle Beach’s word, it is claimed that the TrueSpeak boom mic is able to cancel out up to 97% of background chatter, which is mighty impressive.
Furthermore, the enhanced spatial audio certainly helped me to quickly pick out those bad guys when playing the Resident Evil 4 remake Mercenaries, so I can imagine it will be very beneficial when indulging in competitive multiplayer.
Another key feature of the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro is that it comes with a swappable dual battery system. What this means is that you can use one rechargeable battery in the wireless headset, while the other remains on charge and connected to either your console, USB port or another power supply.

Turtle Beach claims that each battery can last at least 12 hours, so you’re looking at potentially 24 hours of headset use on full charges. Having completely used up the charge on a single battery, I probably got about 11 hours of use, give or take. However, depending on volumes, choice of mic use and other various settings, battery life would likely vary for each individual.
That being said, Turtle Beach also claims that a 15-minute quick charge can give you three hours of game time minus a few minutes, which appears to be true. Though having the benefit of two batteries, one of which is on a charge while you play, it should be easy to avoid running out of battery life altogether.
I already own the official Xbox Wireless Headset and the PS5’s Pulse 3D Wireless Headset, and I love them both. I know it's difficult to explain audio quality without hearing it first-hand, but I can hand-on-heart say that the Stealth Pro surpasses both of those headsets in just about every way. And to be fair, it should be at its price.

On PS5 I tested the Stealth Pro on Horizon Forbidden West, Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 4 remake and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II campaign. I even tested the headset wirelessly playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Nintendo Switch and the quality is equally as exemplary.
I also find the Stealth Pro more comfortable to wear during extended gaming sessions. For whatever reason, usually after about 20 to 30 minutes, the ear cushions on my other headsets will make my ears feel warm which results in me taking the headset off.
Yet, I was able to use the Stealth Pro for at least two continuous hours before I encountered that uncomfortable sensation. Of course, this is my personal issue and you might not ever encounter this, but if you do, then you might take some comfort (quite literally) in knowing this. This extra level of comfort is no doubt due to the headset’s soft memory cushions and the lightweight durable steel–reinforced headband and frame.

The Stealth Pro also takes full advantage of the free Turtle Beach app. In the app you can adjust volume, bass levels and vocal boost levels as well as various volume settings for the mic. You can download the latest Turtle Beach software via its official website or the Windows Store.
What’s more, on the app, you can select a variety of profiles and adjust the equaliser settings for Game, Mic and Bluetooth. Additionally, you can even choose how long it takes for the headset to auto-turn off when not in use and even remap the buttons. If I were to have a negative, it would be that this headset has no audio jack, but it seems to be a sign of the times in the premium wireless-only era.
All in all, the most important factor to consider is: does the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro represent good value for money with an RRP of £279.99? Well, that depends on the individual as value is subjective. What I will say, however, is that out of all the headsets I’ve owned over the years, the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro is by far hands down the best one yet and I doubt you’d be disappointed.
