GTA 6 Xbox Series S release concerns are stressing us all out

GTA 6 Xbox Series S release concerns are stressing us all out

Don't panic yet

GTA VI fans are becoming increasingly twitchy about the fate of the game on one console in particular, and I'm willing to bet you already know which console.

While an undeniably popular console with gamers thanks to its cheap price point, the Xbox Series S is not so widely loved by developers. Since the console launched, multiple reports have suggested the less-powerful hardware makes it very difficult to work with, especially as developers attempt parity with the Xbox Series X.

When GTA VI was first announced, one of the first concerns gamers raised was how the sequel would run on Xbox Series S. At that time, most came to the conclusion that Rockstar Games had very little choice other than to make it work. It was also pointed out this is the same company that managed to get a game like Red Dead Redemption 2 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

However, these concerns have now been kicked up again thanks to a (dubious) post doing the rounds on the GTA Forums. The long and short of it is that someone claiming to be a senior artist at Rockstar recently replied to fans suggesting that the Xbox Series S will be the worst place to play GTA VI.

The first and most important thing to note here is that nobody who actually works at Rockstar would be stupid enough to use their real name and specific job role to leak information like this, and that's assuming anyone who worked there would want to leak information in the first place!

In other words, this post is almost certainly bogus, but has once again reignited fears around GTA VI's performance on the budget console.

A quick glance over at the GTA VI subreddit shows fans working themselves into a frenzy over something that A: has not yet been proven and B: is almost certainly completely made up. People are getting stressed out and worked up over nothing, and at its worst this rumour is reigniting console war nonsense that helps absolutely nobody.

There's no getting around the fact the Xbox Series S is not as powerful as the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X. GTA VI also looks like the most demanding console game we've ever seen. There are undoubtedly reasons to be a little concerned. But until we learn more from Rockstar, it's definitely best to keep our heads. Yeah? Yeah.
