When Hogwarts Legacy was released earlier in the year, it instantly became one of 2023's favourite games. Though many months have passed and there’s now a fair share of contenders for that accolade.
Hogwarts Legacy has more than one version to pick up on each platform whether it be the Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition or Collector’s Edition. If you chose the Deluxe or Collector's Edition, it would not only include both the PS5 and PS4 versions of the game, but also the Dark Arts DLC pack. This DLC includes a Thestral Mount, the Dark Arts Cosmetic Set and the Dark Arts Battle Arena.

So with that in mind, Hogwarts Legacy fans have been discussing whether the Dark Arts Pack is worth picking up. Personally, I had this DLC with the version of the game that I had and other than the Dark Arts Arena (which is a five-round challenge arena in the Forbidden Forest), I don't think I’ve ever used the other pieces of DLC as they often get replaced by other cosmetic items that I found in-game.

“You absolutely don't need it,” replied Louzan_SP. “I have it, beat the game, and honestly didn't see the content at all other than via Transmogrification,” said Mr Alice sharing a similar perspective as I, which also seems to be a very common thought on the thread.
“It doesn't make any story differences or make a significant difference to the gameplay experience. Entirely passable,” explained Suncook. “That's not to say you shouldn't get it, but you needn't feel obligated to.”
Reddit user Strange_Idea_8272 flipped the coin on their recommendation in regards to the DLC. “100% do not need it. However, the dark arts arena is pretty fun. Not exactly worth the extra money (£17.99 RRP), but if you happen to be buying it for cosmetics anyway then you might as well head to the arena,” they said.

Hogwarts Legacy is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. It’s also currently scheduled to be released on 14 November on Nintendo Switch, that’s assuming it suffers no further delays on the hybrid console.
