To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, PlayStation Stars is giving members the chance to get their hands on it for free this month.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag headed to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U on 19 October 2013 and has gone on to become one of the most successful instalments in the long-running Assassin’s Creed franchise. Telling the story of Welsh pirate (we love the Welsh representation) Edward Kenway, we follow him on his escapades across the 1715 Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy.

Now ten years on, Black Flag is crying out for a remaster or even a 60FPS update for the game. However, with no signs of Ubisoft working on this, we will just have to make do. Luckily, if you are yet to play the sixth major instalment in the franchise, PlayStation Stars is now giving you the chance to take to the seas.

To activate the free download, you must be a member of PlayStation’s loyalty programme which is free to join. Additionally, becoming a member will give you access to rewards as well as the ability to accumulate points which can be exchanged for PSN wallet funds. As a result, you can get your hands on some free games in the future.

Once you are signed up, you just need to activate the Black Flag campaign on your PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5. This was pointed out by one Reddit user on r/assassinscreed. The campaign will remain ongoing until 6 December and if you are yet to own a copy of the Ubisoft title, you can get access to it via PS Plus Extra.

In the meantime, Assassin’s Creed Mirage was released this October and was called a “leap of faith that sticks the landing” by our very own Sam Cawley in his spoiler-free review.
