In case you missed it, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag has got a sequel, though disappointingly it’s not a video game.

Instead, it’s a webcomic, that follows the Black Flag protagonist Edward Kenway after the events of the game’s story. The plot also follows a new present-day protagonist who’s captured by Abstergo and forced to relive the memories of Kenway and his adventures in China.

While it’s not the continuation fans had hoped for, it’s nice to see Edward in another story, though many had been hoping for a proper sequel to Black Flag, or at least a new game that followed another character from the Kenway family.

Assassin’s Creed fan -yes-yes-yes-yes- (great name), wanted to know how many people have read the webcomic, saying: “Have you guys been reading Assassin's Creed Forgotten Temples? … I was very surprised by how good and how faithful to the games it is, what's your opinion on it?”

Responses were a mixed bag, with some saying they loved it, others saying they didn’t know it existed, and others saying they’d given it a go but weren’t too keen.

“I like it! And I really love seeing Noa’s reactions to Edward’s situations, as well as being in the Animus. Love that we’re getting some modern-day lore and seeing more of the changed Edward after Black Flag," said one fan. “I had honestly forgotten about it but look forward to diving in,” added another.

In other news, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is reportedly getting a full-on remake for next-gen platforms, and while fans are hoping it expands on the original’s gameplay and open world, they’re also hoping it retains what made it special in the first place, like the catchy sea shanties.
