Assassin's Creed Origins side quests are some of the best in the series, fans agree

Released in 2017, Assassin’s Creed Origins took fans to ancient Egypt during the back end of the Ptolemaic period and as the name of the game suggests, explores the origins of the series.

Since the release of the first Assassin’s Creed in 2007, it has evolved into something else. The series used to be more about stealth, parkour and assassination. Sure, that still exists in what has been labelled as the ‘RPG-era’, but its emphasis is focused on open-world shenanigans, side-quests and levelling up in-depth skill trees.

Some have accused Ubisoft of filling the recent Assassin’s Creed games with too much filler, to the extent that it might feel a little overwhelming and that’s something I agree on. Don’t get me wrong, I like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but the more I see new quests popping up, I feel like that Sabrina the Teenage Witch meme where Melissa Joan Hart is being fed with loads of cake from all angles.

Yet, even though much of that existed in Assassin’s Creed Origins, it never felt too overwhelming. Which is probably why it’s the only Assassin’s Creed game that I’ve earned the Platinum Trophy. It’s no surprise that Origins is considered to be the best of the ‘RPG’ era.

With that in mind, fans on Reddit have been discussing Assassin’s Creed Origins, and some believe that it features some of the best side quests in the series. “I just started AC Origins for the first time, here is my impression so far,” asked Redditor kenwayfan. “Let me know what your first impressions were on Origins!”

“I really like Origins, it’s one of my favourite AC games. I’m replaying it on the PS5 now and I can’t describe to you how this game looks and plays compared to when I first played it on my Xbox One,” replied LilPostPeep. “I really like the Tombs and the exploration aspect of the game and the fact you can tame animals.”

“I feel like some side quests should be a part of the main story due to how out of nowhere some characters are like, such as Tahira,” explained Smutty_Lemon. “She is completely skippable and you wouldn’t have any context as to who she is if you didn’t do her side quest.”

The next game to arrive in the series is Assassins Creed Mirage, which looks to take the series back to its stealth roots. Mirage will be released for PC, PlayStation and Xbox on 12 October 2023.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is out now for PC, PlayStation and Xbox. What’s more, it has also benefited from a new-gen patch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
