Assassin's Creed Red first look confirms our two new protagonists

A leak seemingly confirms two new playable protagonists in Assassin's Creed Red

Whenever a new Assassin’s Creed arrives, it’s a huge deal for its fanbase and the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Red is already garnering a lot of excitement.

Assassin’s Creed Red was officially revealed by Ubisoft in September 2022 and it would provide a setting and historical period that fans have been begging for, feudal Japan. At this time, at least officially, we know very little else about the title other than its location and the name “Red” is merely a codename.

There have been rumours that much like Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Assassin’s Creed Red will feature two playable protagonists. One is said to be a male Kosho samurai character, named Yasuke, a real-life historical figure of African descent who is joined by a currently unknown female shinobi character.

Ubisoft hasn't announced a release date for Assassin’s Creed Red nor has it the platforms on which it will be released. However, a series of rumours have suggested that Assassin’s Creed Red will be released sometime this year.

Unfortunately for Ubisoft, it’s no stranger to being a sufferer of leaks with yet-to-be-revealed information making the social media rounds and it seems that Assassin’s Creed Red will be no exception. Now it appears that the main menu screen has leaked on social media which seemingly confirms that Assassin’s Creed Red will have two playable protagonists, as expected.

In a tweet shared by Twitter account GPT: Game Pass Tracker, an image was shared of the Assassin’s Creed Red main menu screen in question. Sadly, that image has been taken down but I doubt another image would be hard to find if you’re willing to search for it.

The image in question (which we’ve seen before it was pulled) does feature two characters, one is the speculated African samurai and the other is the female in which the Twitter account that shared the image claims is named “Naoe”. Of course, no matter how legit this image appeared to be, we should take unconfirmed rumours and leaks with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise.

It is expected that Assassin’s Creed Red will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
