Baldur's Gate 3 PS5/PC crossplay confirmed

It’s been confirmed that crossplay is coming to Baldur’s Gate 3 so yes, you’ll be able to play with your friends across PlayStation 5 and PC - and eventually, Xbox.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is somewhat of a surprise. Certainly, we expected it would be good. Did we expect it to be the GOTY frontrunner though? We did not. Larian Studios’ latest release is absolutely stellar. The game finally released on PlayStation 5 yesterday, earning a near-perfect score and players have been having a great time with the game, with many praising its open celebration of sex and kink. There is one bug though which unintentionally made NPCs way hornier than intended. Speedruns have already hit sub five-minutes, which is wild to think about but if you’re sitting there thinking, ‘I just want crossplay’. Worry not. It’s coming.

In a new interview with Eurogamer, Larian Studios’ director of publishing Michael Douse confirmed that the teams are working on crossplay. It’s simply just not ready yet. He explained, “It was always in the planning, but we knew it wouldn't be for launch. It's in the roadmap, and though we have an idea of when we'd like to get it ready for, we don't want to put a date on it until we're sure."

It’s not the only element of Baldur’s Gate 3 that we don’t have a date for. The game is also due to eventually release on Xbox. The Xbox version was delayed indefinitely after devs admitted to struggling to get it work on the Series S console. Microsoft’s parity mandate insists developers include the same features in both the Series S and X versions of a game.

In a new landmark deal though, Microsoft have permitted Larian to exclude split-screen co-op from the Series S release, so Baldur’s Gate 3 is still on track to release on the console at some point this year.
