‘BioShock’ Netflix Film Has Landed Its Director

‘BioShock’ Netflix Film Has Landed Its Director

Netflix have announced who will their direct their upcoming BioShock film adaptation.

There are so many live-action video game adaptations in the works right now and I’m weirdly optimistic about them all, despite the fact that Netflix’s recent Resident Evil series proved that we haven’t quite turned the ‘video game adaptations are no longer terrible’ corner we thought we’d turned. You cannot deny though that HBO’s upcoming The Last of Us TV series looks incredible in its first teaser trailer. This latest news on Netflix’s BioShock adaptation has also left me feeling quite hopeful.

If you haven’t already, check out HBO’s The Last of Us tease below. You’re going to want to stick around until the end.

Netflix have officially announced that Francis Lawrence will be directing their BioShock film project. This bodes well because Lawrence has some great credits to his name. Lawrence directed four of the five The Hunger Games films starting with Catching Fire, which is hands down the best. He also directed I Am Legend and will helm the upcoming Hunger Games prequel The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes.

Screenwriter Michael Green will be penning BioShock’s screenplay. Green’s credits include Logan, Blade Runner 2049, and Death On The Nile. Netflix are keeping very hush-hush about the project but their pitch must be pretty promising to attract such great talent.

2K Games and Take-Two Interactive are partnering with the streaming service to produce the film so we should expect a fairly faithful adaptation. BioShock is expected to begin filming in the next few weeks.
