Bloodborne, Elden Ring TV series possible, says Sony boss

Bloodborne, Elden Ring TV series possible, says Sony boss

Please make this happen

TV and movie adaptations of FromSoftware games like Bloodborne and Elden Ring are a possibility, according to PlayStation Studios lead Hermen Hulst.

Released back in 2015, Bloodborne is one of the most interesting PlayStation exclusives. It combined the challenge of Dark Souls with a gorgeous gothic world, constant sense of creeping dread, and captivating lore. Every day I wake up wondering if Sony remembers it exists, since a sequel or PC port remain elusive.

Elden Ring, meanwhile, is... well, you know what it is: one of the biggest games of the last decade. Massive in scope and scale, it's a game that will doubtless inspire the next generation of open-world RPGs.

Speaking to Reuters about Sony's recent move to acquire a majority stake in FromSoftware, Hulst said: "You should think of collaborations on the game development side first and foremost, but it's also not unthinkable with our PlayStation Productions efforts that we explore opportunities."

Sony recently released The Last Of Us Part I, a remake of the 2013 game. No doubt this was in part a way to drum up further interest in the franchise ahead of 2023's HBO show. I also don't think it's a coincidence there are rumours of a Horizon Zero Dawn PS5 remake so soon after the confirmation that a TV adaptation is in development.

While I'd imagine an Elden Ring TV show is far more likely, I'd much rather see Sony explore the possibilities a Bloodborne series offers. In an ideal world we'd get an anime that adapts the excellent Bloodborne comic books and really just leans into the weird shit, you know? But we'll have to wait and see.
